Copy Paste Soul – Stuck/Unstuck EP

Copy Paste Soul returns to his 2Swords imprint mid February with ‘The Stuck / Unstuck’ EP, backed with a remix from Bristol’s Dubspeeka.

Copy Paste Soul and 2Swords had a great 2014, having been tipped by Mixmag, Annie Mac and B.Traits as well as dropping remixes from Laurent Garnier and No Artificial Colours. Here we see the label and Copy Paste Soul open 2015 with fresh material, again showcasing his distinctive style that’s grabbed the attention of so many tastemakers.

The raw yet dubby house of ‘Stuck’ opens the release and sees Copy Paste Soul explore a grittier production style with heavily distorted, shuffling rhythms running alongside delayed stab sequences and tension building string lines while ‘Unstuck’ veers into more sonically refined territory with stripped back rhythmic percussion, stuttering subs and fluidly evolving synths creating a weighty groove led number.

Dubspeeka, fresh from dropping an EP on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode imprint, rounds off the package with his take on ‘Stuck’. Pulling back the originals brash vibe and exploring it’s dubbed elements, the sometime Kosheen member lays the focus on a bumpy drum groove and swirling echoes while aggressive bass tones sporadically ease into the groove to add a further bubbling feel to things.
Copy Paste Soul’s ‘The Stuck / Unstuck’ EP is out on 2Swords 16th February 2015.
