Episode 37: Numbers

For our 37th episode of Lava Lava, Barrientos made his triumphant return to the Sub City studio while Divers was out recovering from a half marathon.

For this one we focussed in on one of Glasgow’s most famous imprints; Numbers. Starting life back in 2006 in the record store Rubadub as an amalgamation of record labels Wireblock, Stuff & Dressed to Sweat. With Jackmaster & Richard at the reins, Numbers has been at the core of Glasgow’s techno, dub and electronic scene for over 10 years. Starting off our focus on the first release we played out some of the labels biggest hitters as well as some absolute gems.

We’ve had our mailboxes fill up with some impressive promo material to play out on our Residents Mix, especially the fresh cuts from Craig Smith and Max Chapman. Also played out the new track from the impressive combination of Simian Mobile Disco & Roman Flugel as well as some stunning tracks from Daniel Bortz & Sascha Sibler and Leon Vynehall.

Making impressions on our Top 5 was up-and-comer Fabio Mazzei. We’ve also been digging the exclusive Tom Demac & Soul Clap remixes. Beating the British stalwart Riva Starr to Number 1 was one of our favourite producers, Grum, with a stunning new deep groover.
