Episode 39 – Glasgow Underground

For our 39th episode Barrientos & DVRS looked into the renowned Glasgow Underground for their Label Focus.  Founded back in 1997 by Kevin McKay, the label has been massively influential in exposing some of Glasgow’s up-and-coming talents as well as releasing massive tracks from producers around the world.  Although the label went through a temporary hiatus in the early 00’s it’s been releasing a steady flow of solid gold EP’s over the past 3 years.  Long may it continue!

Our Residents Mix was crammed full of Techno vibes courtesy of some fresh cuts from Radio Slave, KiNK and Michael Mayer.  We’ve been absolutely rinsing the promos sent through to us for the new releases from Andre Bratten and Jay West & Manuel Sahagun so it was only appropriate we played them out during the mix.

We rounded things off as ever with our Top 5 selection for the fortnight.  Our mailboxes were full of some delicious promo’s so we absolutely had to play out the new Henry Krinkle and Iñigo Vontier & Dan Solo tracks.  Also been loving the fresh cut from British duo Dusky, the inaugural release on their brand new label 17 Steps. It was the irresistible summer sound of Luke Million & James Curd that stole the number 1 spot with their brand new track.
