Episode 46: Rush Hour

The Dutch powerhouse music imprint and record store Rush Hour was the focus of our Label Focus for Episode 46 of LAVALAVA.  Residents Barrientos & DVRS fell in love with the label after spending a solid few hours in their record store in Amsterdam a few years ago.  Founded in 1997 and releasing records since ’99, Rush Hour is without doubt one of the most highly influential and respected record labels in Europe.  Kicking off the label focus with the 2nd release on the label from Aardvark, the Lava Lava Residents played out some of their favourite tracks from the label, including some absolute killer cuts from KiNK, Neville Watson, Recloose, Carl Craig and Rick Wilhite.

The Residents Mix started off mellow with some fresh promo material through from Clarian, Flaunt and Valesta before it turned into an exploration into some real dark techy sounds.  With such massive hype building up over the end of the summer, of course some brand new Aphex Twin was played out alongside some even more intense remixes from French Fries and Tiga as well as a sick collab between big hitters Sydney Charles and Hector Moralez.

Yet again our mailboxes were stuffed full of impressive promo material which made it through to our Top 5 for the fortnight, including the new cut from Jaymo & Andy George on their own Moda Black imprint and Linier‘s remix of the classic track from Aaron Smith which is still to be released on Relentless.  Our number 1 spot however was strictly reserved for the remix from My Digital Enemy of the massive collab between Seven Lions, Myon and Shane 54 on the solid imprint Republic.
