Artifact – Cry

It’s more or less a well established fact now that Bristol has one of the best house and techno music scenes for young, up-and-coming producers and promoters.  Ryan Bonfield, a.k.a. Artifact, is a perfect example of the talent being produced by this scene, with a string of releases over the past few years on Rebirth, Somethink Sounds, Deadplate and Local Action.  The most recent cut from this exciting producer is on the forth-coming Various Artists compilation on the LA-based Halocyan Records.

Halocyan was founded in 2010 by Dimitri Fergadis with the aim of releasing forward-thinking techno music inspired by the techniques developed over 50 years by such fundamental artists as Kraftwerk, DJ Pierre, Frankie Knuckles and Tangerine Dream to name but a few.  Having already had an impressive set of releases to it’s name from world-renowned artists like Al Tourettes, DJ Pierre and Joey Beltram, the label is now gearing up for its 24-track “Univeral Quantifier” compilation.

This double-disc release is absolutely bursting at the seams with a diverse range of tracks taking the sound of techno to all of it’s different possibilities.  It’s almost impossible to pick out a favourite track for us here at Lava Lava, with some bangers from Paul Woolford, Dosem and Legowelt, not to mention 2 exclusive tracks from Third Man and Hackman.  However, we just can’t get enough of Artifact‘s massive techno track ‘Cry‘.  The percussion on this track gives it a real fist-pumping groove with the haunting vocals and acid synth lines making this fit perfectly into one of those 5am Warehouse Rave sets..

You can get a copy of Universal Quantifier when it drops on the 14th of October.
