COMA – Lora

Two years after their first full album, German duo COMA return to the hugely influential Kompakt imprint in October with their brand new LP ‘This Side of Paradise‘.  A comprehensive and meticulously arranged collection that never strays far from the duo’s well-established modus operandi; rich in melodic and rhythmic content, well-balanced for club and home play.

Sometimes dubbed as songwriters that don’t “actually” write songs, COMA tend to nudge the genre boundaries without making it their central artistic statement.   Having already worked alongside Dubba Jonny and remixing Pyjamas and Tom Ellis this year so far, the duo have an exciting end to the year lined up.  The title single from their up-coming LP, ‘Lora’, will feature in Kompakt‘s massive Total 15 Compilation due out in August 21st and will also be released as a single with remixes from the ridiculously talented Pional & Robag Wruhme.

For us, ‘Lora‘ has the sound of a downtempo pop-infused and tenderhearted epic that’s a perfect end to a sensational summer of music.  The echoing vocals give a sophisticated edge to the otherwise lush sounds created by the sharp synths, vocal loops and punchy drums.  If we had to compare, this sounds like some of Flume’s classic output from 2012.

Make sure you mark the 9th of October in your calendars.  We’re loving the sounds of COMA‘s ‘This Side of Paradise‘ LP & you’ll definitely want to pick this one up from Kompakt while it’s hot!
