Introspective – Survive

Since it’s inception in 2007 by Jenifa Mayanja, Bumako Recordings has become an essential label for fans of deeper house sounds that are a bit off the beaten path from other big imprints.  Far from taking a back seat since founding the label Mayanja has always kept herself in the eye of the storm, working on projects such as EDJ with partner Jus Ed and Sound Warrior with Daikini 9.

For their next release, Bumako Recordings will be dropping the first half of the ‘Sound Dig Series Volume 3‘ EP with cuts from Wallflower, Jay Mond, Sean Bird and Introspective.  This release has really caught our attention here at LAVA LAVA as each contributor nails their track, combining different elements and vibes to give a big slice of intellectual and melodic house music.

It’s hard to pick out a favourite from this, but for us Roberto Bosco‘s alias, Introspective, just wins that spot.  ‘Survive’ is a sumptuously rich cut which counterpoints robust mechanical beats with acid licks and otherworldly synths.  What really ticks the box for us though is the heavy amount of distortion on the percusion which gives the track a real rough edge similair to some of Lone‘s productions.

Make sure you check out the rest of the ‘Sound Dig Series Volume 3‘ EP when it drops on Bumako Recordings in June.
