Outstrip – Humanity

Fabio Gianelli’s District Raw Recordings follows up their first release of 2015 from Adrian Rodd by offering up a sumptuous EP from Outstrip.  Released later this February, the ‘These Days’ EP comprises three original tracks from the Ukrainian duo.

Denis Borisov and Anton Sever aka Outstrip have been releasing since 2010, dropping material via the likes of Stil Vor Talent, Rejected and Highway Records.  Here, the pair follow recent District Raw output from Dakpa and Mountain Family.

Title cut ‘These Days’ opens up the EP with a contemporary slice of hypnotic house music led by bumpy swinging rhythms, a stab-led bass hook and meandering pads. ‘ID15’ follows, tipping the rhythmic focus over to organic percussive sounds while ghostly synth tones snake around the penetrating sub bass overtones.

Our favourite track is the last cut on the EP; ‘Humanity’.  Displaying a deeper side to the first two tracks, the duo fuel the composition with soft chord sequences, spoken word vocal murmurs and warbling pad lines to give a real deep groover with an edge.

You can grab a copy of Outstrip’s ‘These Days’ EP when it drops on District Raw Recordings on the 9th February 2015.
