2VILAS – Numbers EP

Organic Music brings the heat on their first release of 2017 with a 4-track EP from Ibiza’s hottest duo of the moment; 2VILAS.  With it being ran as a limited press, vinyl-only release, this is one not to sleep on.

Hector & Carlos first honed their skills whilst working as sound technicians in Ibiza until 2008 where they performed their first set at Pacha Ibiza.  After 4 years of hard work in the studio (and hard partying in Pacha), they released their first EP on Pleiadians Recordings, gaining acclaim from the likes of Loco Dice, Carl Cox, DJ Sneak and Luciano.

5 years on, after holding residencies at Destino, Sankeys & Pacha, the duo have gone on to tour the world and release for the likes of Bass Works, OFF Recordings’ sub-label OFF Spin, Deep Edition & Flashmob as well as founding their own Isgud imprint.

What sounds like their strongest release to date, Numbers brings that unmistikably deep Ibiza sound and merges it with shades of authentic Detroit techno.

Kicking off the release, ‘2112’ almost effortlessly develops from a muffled and distorted synth hook into a deep groover.  ‘4224’ follows up with a far more punchier kick and shuffling percussion.  Composed alongside dreamy ambient licks and distorted echoing vocals it’s easy to lose yourself in the vibe.

On the flip side ‘6446’ is the most club-ready track of the release, combining different elements of the previous 2 tracks to deliver an all-round speaker workout.  Closing the release, ‘8668’ has that classic Detroit feel.  A track more focussed on percussion than bass or synths, the amount of layers in this can be clearly heard as the track progresses.

Set for release on Organic Music on the 31st of March as a limited run of vinyl, 2VILAS’ 4-track ‘Numbers’ EP is an incredibly solid and diverse journey through deep sounds.
