MANIK – Omar’s Coming

LA-based producer MANIK continues to turn heads and shake soundsystems with his new debut release for Huxley’s No Idea’s Original imprint.  His four-track ‘Omar’s Coming’ EP is a powerful fusion of sounds that take clear inspiration from the Detroit scene.

Over the past few years MANIK has garnered a great deal of support from his House & Techno peers with recent appearances across Ovum Recordings, Poker Flat, Bpitch Control and VIVa MUSiC.   When he’s not producing, MANIK is making impressions the world over as a DJ, having mastered the art of crate digging for hidden gems and secret weapons.

The opening track from his new EP, ‘Subsurround’, exhibits MANIK’s extensive production abilities with a cacophony of percussive elements and a moody bass hook whilst title track ‘Omar’s Coming’ is more stripped back and techy with its intricate drum workout, echoing effects and subterranean synths.

‘My Answer Is Moog’ follows on the flip side, blending infectious squelches with a medley of energetic stabs.  The raw and murky ‘Dusty In The 313’ closes the EP, tying everything together with soulful vocal samples, hypnotizing chords and tranquil melodies in a display of deep house.
