PREMIERE: MAK & PASTEMAN – DEEPER

Leeds-based duo Mak & Pasteman return to their Materials imprint this August with another 2-track EP that holds nothing back.  Their ‘Sermon/Deeper’ EP follows hot on the heels of their latest EP, released in July on their label, after having a brief hiatus releasing for the likes of Lobster Boy and Unknown To The Unknown.

The UK underground scene was the driving force behind Mak & Pasteman’s return to the studio in 2011 and since then the duo have crafted a sound that sits between House & Techno.  When they’re not in the studio producing raw dancefloor cuts they can be heard in their monthly residency on Rinse FM providing a sample of their wide musical influences as well as hosting a variety of guests.

‘Deeper’, the A-side on their forthcoming release, is nothing short of an absolute bomb.  Punchy drums and oscillating sweeps build up to the chunky and growling bassline while the percussion provides a relentless shuffle throughout whole track.  The resultant effect is a hypnotising and sweaty techno workout that’s reminiscent of the intense early works of Surgeon.

Coming out on the 12th of August on Materials, Mak & Pasteman’s ‘Deeper/Sermon’ EP is a weapon that’s begging to be played out on big soundsystems and bigger dancefloors.
