PREMIERE: Mulla – Indians Go Forth

This May see’s Dutch producer Mulla release his debut EP ‘Six Chapters’ for the New York based imprint Cahoots.  Although being his first EP for a label outside of his home country, the exciting young producer first made an appearance on the Cahoots Volume 2 compilation in 2014.  His unique approach to ‘Smack Back’, combining modern bass-oriented club ready tracks with the dusty feel of old house tapes, certainly made some big waves.

Over the years Mulla has become recognized for his residencies at prolific club-nights in Amsterdam including Natives, Kreativ & De Nachtdivisie. Joppe Muller, aka Mulla, is also co-founder of the celebrated Nomads Festival, featuring legendary talents alongside local DJ’s in the Dutch countryside each summer.

For his 6-track debut Mulla brings his distinctive sound and style to the table with a diverse range of house cuts.  Each track has subtly drawn on different elements of old-school house, techno and funk as well as his past musical experiences in Amsterdam.

‘Indians Go Forth’, the second track on the record, is a no-nonsense tech groove that has a pace and energy fit for peak time on any dance floor.  The Native American style chants are layered perfectly over the sharp and punchy percussion to create a groove that commands you to move.

Set for release on wax on the 13th of May, ‘Six Chapters’ is an essential for any DJ looking to add an incredibly adaptable record to their deep or tech sets.
