Episode 49: Saved

In a change from the usual style of Label Focus, the LavaLava boys Barrientos & Divers stepped it up a gear for Episode 49 and had a look in at Nic Fanciulli‘s notorious Saved Records. Since it’s inception in 2005 the label has focussed almost exclusively on releasing big tech-house grooves, and with huge success too. In a relentlessly energetic label focus the residents played out some of the label’s biggest tracks, including cuts from The Buick Project, Coyu, Mark Broom and The Martinez Brothers.

There was only a brief respite to be had in the Residents Mix, with the occasional drop in tempo and energy from exclusive tracks by Christian Vance, Lil’ Mark and Justin Harris.  The showstopping tracks came courtesy of Glasgow Underground (of course) with the new remix from Brett Gould of Illyus & our boy Barrientos as well as cuts from Copy Paste Soul, Montel and the hilarious new monster tune, ‘No Panties‘, from Kill Frenzy.

Things were finally dialed down a notch thanks to the LAVALAVA Top 5, with the brand new funk-laced track from Imagination and Deadly Sins on the ISM Records and the new “super group” from Hot Creations; Pleasurestate.  With the members of Pleasurestate being MK, Lee Foss and Anabel Englund, it’s hard to not get excited about this newly formed trio.  Taking up 3rd place in our chart was the new sounds from Art of Tones on Lazy Days Recordings and beating them to 2nd place was the big tech groove from Christian Nielsen on Play it Down.  Number 1 was strictly reserved for the exclusive track from Dusky on his own label 17 Steps.
