PREMIERE: Ki Creighton & Makanan – Contemplation (Tolstoi & Andsan Remix)

Kenja Records are set to finish off 2016 in style with a new release from one of the hottest production outfits about right now; Ki Creighton & Makanan.  Their Coco Ricos EP contains two sublime dancefloor cuts with remixes from Mihai Popoviciu and this one here from Tolstoi & Andsan.

Ronnie Spiteri’s Kenja imprint has had a great year so far, hosting artists like Reset Robot, Dachshund, Russ Yallop and Darius Syrossian.  Racking up 20 releases since it’s inception in mid-2015, the label has already gained industry-wide praise and recognition for being a highly dependable outlet for dancefloor-oriented tech house.

Ki has recently released tracks on Glasgow Underground, Material, Circus, Snatch and 8Bit not to mention his own label Under No Illusions. He goes from strength here as he teams up again with Makanan to produce the relentlessly energetic ‘Coco Ricos’ EP.

The original version of ‘Contemplation’ brilliantly holds the floor with an incessant, hypnotic groove centred around classic shifting tech percussion.

On the remix for this premiere, the German duo of Tolstoi & Andsan shift things up a gear straight from the outset.  Big kicks and sharp hi-hats pave the way for a muted re-rub of the hypnotic synth line.  The vocals are entwined with the fizzing atmospherics on the breakdown to create a big club feel to the track before the off-beat and addictive bass hook sinks it’s claws in.

Set for release on the 28th of November Ki Creighton & Makanan’s Coco Ricos EP is the perfect note for Kenja Records to end 2016 with.
