Roy Davis Jr – My Nation

Now into its tenth year, Canadian label and house mainstay Mile End cooks up another sizzling house record, this time from Chicago legend and label regular Roy Davis Jr. Featuring the vocals of Terry Dexter, the track comes with remixes by fellow legend DJ Pierre as well as Ray Coker and Groovecreator.

Roy Davis Jr has long been a global house icon producing for artists like Christina Milian and Seal as well as smashing it with tracks like ‘Gabriel’ and countless others.  This new remix package of ‘My Nation‘ is taken from Roy’s latest LP on Mile End; ‘Destroy & Rebuild‘.

The original is a slick, steamy cut with rubbery bass, upright drums and a killer vocal line filled with soul. Cute chord stabs add colour and the whole thing effuses good time vibes.

The DJ Pierre remix delivers a more peak time feel with big chords and swooshes of white noise.  Ray Coker strips the whole track back in his take, giving it a more jazz-styled approach.  Last but not least, New York‘s Groovecreator gives ‘My Nation’ a more sweaty, pumping house feel with lots of filtered bass.

With a preview of the original cut right here, you can pick up the entire ‘My Nation‘ EP from Roy Davis Jr on vinyl on the 19th of October or wait ’til the 16th of November to get it on digital release from Mile End.
