STREAM: Fatherhood – Child Support EP

Clubwerks, one of the 6 imprints on the Romanian Origami Sound label, offers up an incredible EP from the collab of Michael Magnan and Physical Therapy (a.k.a. Fatherhood) this August.  With two tracks from the collab and two individual cuts from each producer make no mistake, this is an absolute weapon of a record.

Longtime friends and occasional music collaborators Michael Magnan and Physical Therapy each have their individual music projects and DJ carreer – Michael in NYC and Daniel in Berlin.  Origami Sounds first stumpled upon these two producers as Fatherhood when they stumbled across the duo’s edits of classic tracks on their Soundcloud.  After their first track was released on the Clubwerks Christmas Compilation last year the duo return 7 months later for their first full EP on the label.

The EP is made up of two originals from the collab. First up, ‘Loleatta on Acid‘ is a wonky acid track where the legendary house accapella from Loleatta Holloway rips through some proper biting grooves.  This track is something that would fit right in for those early morning raves. The other original from the duo, ‘The Yes Man‘, is just as bizarre as it is fun.  More of an awry techno track compared to the first, the swooping bass and wooden percussion give it a true peak time edge.

The two extra tracks from each producer are there to highlight both producers’ unique and bold perspectives within the context of the collab. Physical Therapy‘s ‘Hospital House’ is an absolute failproof tool that’s bound to be a highlight in any set.  Here at Lava Lava we are hooked on Michael‘s rave cut ‘Alright Um‘.  Loud, fast and intense, this ode to the underexposed 2001 house record by Amtr@k Jrny, this is nothing short of a bomb.
