Humans & Machines – Lesson 101

Bristol based duo Tom & Ian Griffiths (aka Icarus) have been on the rise over the past year with releases on Pete Tong’s long running FFRR imprint and Subsoul.  Late 2014 saw the pair launch their own Fly Boy Records and the label’s set to drop it’s second release courtesy of Humans & Machines.

It’s a tough choice, but here among the Lava Lava crew the favourite cut is the opener, ‘Lesson 101’.  A brooding energetic cut fuelled by snaking square wave bass hooks, it’s easy to hear the clean, crisp production on this one.  The evolving rhythmic drive paired with the hypnotic vocal murmurs and atmospherics make this cut a guaranteed crowd pleaser.

With the B-sideAngst‘ having already been played out as one of Annie Nightingale‘s ‘top 3 sparklers‘ on BBC Radio 1, this is an impressive debut for the pair.  Doubtless, there’s definitely a lot more to come from this exciting duo.  And we can’t wait.

Humans & Machines debut EP ‘Lesson 101 / Angst’ is out on Fly Boy Records on the 10th August.
