Jimmy Luna – Imaginario

One of America’s hottest underground labels, The Pool House, is set to drop a new EP courtesy of Jimmy Luna.  The 4-track ‘Back From Alhena’ EP is the second outing on the Chicago label for Jimmy, featuring 3 original cuts and a remix from P!nkpanther.

Jimmy already has a musical CV that would turn many green with envy, having opened his own nightclub (Metro) in his hometown in Guatamala in 2012 and co-founded Vicey Loops, a label that has racked up releases from the likes of Pete Herbert, Sischi Rosch and Andre Salmon.  The DJ and Producer moved to Chicago in 2013 where he discovered The Pool House, a collective that was already host to co-founder Bisharat, Jordan Bernardo and Mike Miraldi.

It’s fair to say that ‘Back From Alhena’ is a more introspective release than his first, with more dark and provocative tracks.  Our favourite is the brightest of his 3 originals; ‘Imaginario‘.  Compared to the eerie opener, this cut brings in a bouncy house vibe with meandering synth hooks, soaring pad lines and bumpy rhythms.  What really makes this track stand out from the rest is it’s club-readiness and similarities to some of the best deep grooves from the likes of Ian Pooley, Dixon or even Mano Le Tough.

Jimmy Luna’s ‘Back From Alhena’ EP comes out on 29th June on The Pool House.
